Nebraska
Did you know you can dedicate your election ballot to recognizing a veteran? Although the whole military-connected community deserves to be honored, it is the mighty community of veterans who are in the spotlight for this particular campaign, the “Honor A Veteran” state program which revolves around the election cycle.
The Nebraska Secretary of State’s office has a unique approach to their Honor A Veteran program. With a focus on creating and participating in Veterans Day events, schools and their students are encouraged to plan out the different ways they can pay tribute to family and friends who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This makes it a “living” program in which younger generations can also be included.
According the Nebraska Honor a Veteran page, the interactive engagement of the students might include, “...include such elements as the presentation of colors, the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a history of Veterans Day, patriotic music, a keynote speech, and a short video or slide show.”
But don’t just take our word for it – as a Nebraska voter, check out your Secretary of State’s full slate of Honor a Veteran materials for the planning and execution of the events, plus support and contact information.
